Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a contactless measurement of thickness of a tubular material, by irradiating the radioactive rays having a prescribed beam width to the tubular material and then obtaining the function approximation curve of the nearby measuring region including two spots where the effect begins to emerge for both the outer side thickness and the inner diameter of hollow part of the tubular material.
CONSTITUTION: A pulley 10 or 10a which winds up a wire 11 bonded to a frame 9 is turned by a drive motor 12, and thus the frame 9 meves horizontally to give a horizontal scan in the crossing direction of a pipe 1 to a station system comprising a beam source 3 and a detector that detects the rediation beam 2 sent from the source 3. The position of the station system during the scan is detected by a scale 13 and then displayed on a scale display device 14. In addition, the following circuits are provided: a counter 17 that counts the volume of detection of a radiation beam detector 4, latching circuits 15 and 16, a CPU18, a motor driving circuit 19, a clock generating source 22, the 1st dividing circuit 23 and the 2nd dividing circuit 24 respectively.
