Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the reduction of weight without sacrifice of the strength and the rigidity, by employing the light alloy for the cylinder while coupling the coupling portion between the cylinder and a reaction chip through a bolt made of high-strength steel.
CONSTITUTION: A caliper 2 is constructed with a cylinder 22 composed of aluminum, a coupling member 21 made of a thick board having an opening 23 to be casted integrally with the cylinder 22 and a reaction chip 5, where said reaction chip 5 is coupled with a coupling member 21 through a pair of bolts 25. The bolt 25 is made of high-strength steel and inserted into a hole 32 in the coupling member 21 and a hole 35 in the arm 24 while the tip side screw shaft section is screwed into a screw hole 28 thus to couple such that the base end section of the arm 24 will be butted against the board face of the coupling member 21.
