Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide effective surface contact even if an adjusting nut is inclined against the end wall of a piston, by forming a spherical convex at the tip of the adjusting nut while also forming a spherical concave, matching to the convex, on the end wall of the piston.
CONSTITUTION: As pressurized liquid is fed in a cylinder 17, a piston 4 is moved leftward to press a friction pad 7 to the right side of a brake disc 5. A pair of calipers 1 are then moved rightward to make a friction pad 6 fitted, through a reaction piece 2, to the left side of the brake disc 5 for generating brake power. If an excess force is applied to control the brake, both pads 6, 7 are deformed, the piston 4 is inclined and at the same time an adjusting bolt 28 and adjusting nut 27 are also inclined. Since a spherical convex 27a and a matching concave 4b are formed at the tip of the nut 27 and on the end wall 4a of the piston 4, effective surface contact of the brake is secured even if the adjusting nut 27 is inclined.
