Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce dragging torque during the brake's being off by making as least one of the brake pads into a wedge shape, i.e. the rear surface of back plate is tilted, and by tilting the torque transmitting surface and the mating torque receiving surface.
CONSTITUTION: When the brake liquid pressure is fed to the cylinder part 51 of calipers 50 and the inner pad 30 is pressed against the disc 10 with a piston 61, the outer pad 40 is also pressed to the other surface of the disc 10 by the reactive force of the same. If a torque due to dragging is generated and applied to the inner pad 30, the torque transmitting surface 35, whose leading area is tilted, is pressed to the torque receiving surface 25 of the flat part 21. The pad 30 is consequently moved toward the periphery by a lifting force formed by the component against the force applied by a spring 70 and stops when it runs against the torque receiving surface 28. In this situation, the pad 30 is perfectly prevented from following and thereby the intended braking performance can be attained.
