Abstract
PURPOSE: To titled product, consisting of glass filaments having a specific diameter and length capable of mixing with a plastic at a low cost in a short time, and suitable for reinforcing an FRP.
CONSTITUTION: Glass filaments having a filament diameter of 0.002W0.03mm and an average length of 0.08W1.5mm preferably treated with a treating agent preferably containing a coupling agent, e.g. acrylsilane, to give the aimed glass filaments. The resultant treated glass filaments are then mixed with a plastic, preferably the thermoplastic or thermosetting type, preferably an unsaturated polyester resin, in a mixer, e.g. a kneader, and the resultant compound is injection or press molded to give the aimed FRP product, etc.
USE: Various industrial materials and household products.
