Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent interference of exhaust gases adjoining in the sequence of ignition and thereby enhance the efficiency of exhaust turbine by dividing into two chambers the inside of the exhaust pipe in the axial direction and coupling the exhaust turbine to the tail of exhaust pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical exhaust pipe 2 is provided with a bulkhead axially to divides the inside of the pipe into two equal parts, the chamber 4 and 5. When cylinders are designated as No.1 to 4 and the sequence of ignition is assumed as No.1, No.3, No.4 and No.2, the cylinders No.1 No.3, which are apart in the sequence of ignition, are connected to one chamber 4 through connecting tubes 6, 7 while the cylinders No.2 and No.3 are to the other chamber 5 through connecting tubes 8, 9, and further exhaust turbine 10 is coupled to the tail of exhaust pipe 2. Thereby, the chambers 4, 5 can send the exhaust gas from cylinders backward while holding the dynamic pressures of each exhaust gas at high level. Moreover, this exhaust gas with high dynamic pressure is capable of driving the exhaust turbine 10, that will well contributes to effective utilization of the exhaust gas.
