Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve various characteristics of an engine relating to matters contained in the exhaust gas, fuel consumption, etc. as a whole, by making the exhaust resistance of a front exhaust pipe of a V-type engine equal to that of a rear exhaust pipe by differentiating the inner diameter of the front exhaust pipe from that of the rear exhaust pipe, and thereby attaining uniform conditions of combustion in respective combustion chambers.
CONSTITUTION: In a motor cycle equipped with a V-type engine 20 in which cylinders 21, 22 are disposed respectively at the front and rear portions of engine body, the inner diameter of exhaust pipe 30 extended from front cylinder 21 is made different from that of exhaust pipe 31 of rear cylinder 22, so that difference of exhaust resistance caused by difference in the length of these two exhaust pipes 30, 31 can be compensated. With such an arrangement, conditions of combustion in two cylinders 21, 22 and difference in various characteristics relating to matters contained in exhaust gas, fuel consumption, etc. can be made small, so that adjustment of engine for improving its performance as a whole can be made with ease. Thus, various engine characteristics can be improved with ease.
