Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid wasteful consumption of a mold releasing agent and eliminate useless movements by a method wherein a raw cover of tire is placed in a bucket of a conveyor and is centered, while the length of the cover is detected simultaneously, and the start and end of spraying operation of a spray gun are controlled.
CONSTITUTION: At a centering position A, the raw cover 1 of tire is centered by a centering mechanism 3 in the condition where the cover 1 is supported by roller buckets 6, 6 and auxiliary roller buckets 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b over the entire length thereof. Then, the auxiliary roller buckets 7a, 7b are tilted forward, and while holding the cover 1 by the roller buckets 6, it is intermittently conveyed to a painting position B by the conveyor 2. A painting mechanism 4 has the spray gun capable of moving into the interior of the cover 1 and moving out therefrom freely, and the start and end of spraying the paint are controlled by a sensor interlocked with a centering bar.
