Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled article which retains the inherent gloss of a thermoplastic resin at its surface, is devoid of deffects of appearance such as flow marks and has a small gloss gradient, by a method wherein a layer with little deformation of rubber is formed in the proximity of the surface of an ABS resin molded article.
CONSTITUTION: An inductor 3 is placed between a fixed-side metallic mold 1 and a movable-side metallic mold 2, and a high-frequency wave is generated to rapidly raise the temperature of the mold surfaces (points A and B) only. Then the inductor 3 is removed, the molds are reclosed and ABS resin is injection molded. At the time of molding, the adhesion between the resin and the mold is sufficient, whereas at the time of mold releasing, the mold surfaces are easily cooled to below the thermal deformation temperature of the resin. The ABS resin molded article excellent in appearance can be obtained in which the rubber is little deformed in the proximity of the surface and is not exposed at the surface, the surface gloss Gs (60 degrees) % (ASTM D 523) is 90% and the gloss gradient is within the range of 0W0.2%/cm.
