Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent any defective contact and increase the preservation performance of a solid electrolyte battery, which is sealed by fusing the peripheries of sealing plates with soldering mateials, by interposing a porous conductive body between a negative electrode and a negative sealing plate. CONSTITUTION:A generation element 1 consisting of a solid electrolyte 2, a negative electrode 3 and a positive electrode 4 is placed between a negative and a positive sealing plate 6 and 7, which are located over and under the element 1 and also serve as electrode terminal plates. A ring-like ceramic 5 is interposed between the plates 6 and 7. The plates 6 and 7 are fused to the ceramic 5 by use of soldering materials 9 and 10, thereby a sealed solid electrolyte battery being constituted. Here, a porous conductive body 8 is provided between the negative electrode 3 and the plate 6, in order to realize excellently conductive contact between the electrode 3 and the plate 6. As the porous conductive body 8, for example, a non-woven graphite fabric which is 10mum thick and has a porosity of 70vol% is used.
