Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress drifting discharge by opening the 6th grid and applying the high voltage multiplied by the normal specification to the 5th grid during the high voltage processing when the electrodes below the 5th grid are all grounded and the high voltage multiplied by the normal specification is applied to the 6th grid. CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube which consists of a cathode 11 and the 1st to the 6th grids 12-17 and which incorporates an electron gun that forms a compound primary electron lens by leading the 2nd and 4th grid 13 and the 3rd and 5th grid 16 is high-voltage-processed. First, the electrodes below the 5th grid 16 are grounded and high voltage processing is performed by applying the 60kV high voltage pulses which are twice or three times the normal value to the 6th grid 17 from an anode terminal 23 for six minutes. Then the 6th grid 17 is opened and the cathode 11 and the 1st and 2nd grids 12 and 13 are grounded. The 15 to 20kV high voltage pulses which are twice or three times the normal value are applied to the 5th grid for one to five minitues. Subsequently, high voltage processing is performed for 4min in the same way as mentioned the above. As a result, drifting discharge can be suppressed.
