Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity, decrease residual potential, decrease temp. dependency of electrostatic charging characteristics, and improve image quality by providing a vapor-deposited photosensitive layer made by adding halogen to an Se-Te alloy, and an insulation layer successively on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:An Se-Te alloy layer (Te is 20-30wt%) doped with 0.5-1,000 ppm halogen is vapor-deposited directly or through an intermediate thin layer on a conductive substrate, whereby a photosensitive layer is formed. Next, an insulation layer of acrylic resins, silicone resins or the like is formed to <=4mu thickness on the photosensitive layer. It is preferable to use a material consisting of a compound contg. org. groups and silanol or siloxane groups in molecules and curing agent for the insulation layer. Thereby, the temp. dependency of electrostatic charging characteristics is reduced and superior characteristics are obtained at high temps. as well. In spite of continuous copying of tens of thousands of sheets, the formation of white stripes and the like on the copied images are eliminated.
