Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatic conversion to line-element information by storing picture- element information on a line drawing in a memory which is accessed by a processor temporarily, and scanning the information in the memory.
CONSTITUTION: An original line drawing is sampled by picture elements through a scanner 1 to obtain binary picture-element information, which is stored in a picture memory 4 successively through a processor 2. Then, one optional picture element of the picture-element information is determined as a starting point A and from a point P shifted in the address (coordinate image) of the memory 4 by ±a in directions (x) and (y) from the starting point A, the memory 4 is scanned within a constant range until one picture element is detected. An immaginary straight line extended from the starting point A in the direction of the detected picture element and points P and B are found, and the intersection is regarded as a new starting point A to repeate the same operation. Thus, a signal is sent to a block 6 through an output data buffer 5.
