Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a titled high tensile steel by hardening and tempering the specific composition steel contg. C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, Al, B, Ti under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The steel contg. 0.20<C<=0.40%, 0.05-1.0% Si, 0.50-1.50% Mn, <=0.010% S, 0.10-2.00% Cr, 0.05-1.0% Mo, 0.01-0.10% Ti, and if necessary, contg. >=one kind of 0.01-0.15% V, 0.01-0.15% Nb, 0.01-0.10Ta, or >= one kind 0.002- 0.06% Ca, 0.003-0.20% REM (mainly Ce, La) or both thereof and consisting of the balance Fe and unavoidable impurites is heat-treated in the following way: It is heated and hardened by keeping the average heating rates from the AC3 point down to the temp. at which no coarse austenite grains are formed at 3-50 deg.C/sec in succesion to which it is heated to below the Ac1 point, and is tempered for 3min of holding time.
