Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress an operation load of a flash board to a reduced load and to enable to build a new dam without a particular reinforcing work, by a method wherein an overflow part of an existing dam is closed off in a condition to fill a space between an existing gate and a flash board with water.
CONSTITUTION: In case a dam is newly built at the downstream of an existing dam 1, an overflow part 7 of an existing dam 1 is closed off. A closing off means is such that an existing gate 17 is installed in a gate channel 4, and flash boards 18 are placed in a flash board channel 5 up to a level being higher than that of the upper end of the gate 17. A space between the gate 17 and the flash board 18 is filled with water 19. With this, a water pressure P0, corresponding to a water depth H0, is exerted on one side 18A of the flash board 18, and a water pressure P1, corresponding to a water depth H1 of the water 19 so filled, is reversely exerted on other side 18B. As a result, the water pressure P0 is attenuated (in a part shown hatched) with the water pressure P1, which results in suppressing the operation load of the flash board 18.
