Abstract

PURPOSE: To contrive to lower exhaust gas temperature and as well as to prevent catalyst or the like from being deteriorated by a method wherein the fuel injection period is gradually increased when the detected exhaust gas temperature is higher than the set exhaust gas temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Basic fuel injection period is calculated with an electronic controlling unit 14 by an engine speed signal based on the output of a rotary angle sensor 44 and a suction air flow signal based on the output of an air flowmeter 17. The calculated result of the basic fuel injection perid is corrected in accordance with the output of an oxygen concentration detector 46. As a result, fuel is jetted from a fuel injection valve 15 in accordance with the corrected fuel injection period. At this time, furthermore, the exhaust gas temperature detected by an exhaust gas temperature sensor 47 is compared with the set exhaust gas temperature memorized beforehand. When the temperature of the former is higher than that of the latter, the fuel injection period is gradually increased so as to cause to lower the exhaust gas temperature.
