Abstract

PURPOSE: An asphalten-epoxy resin composition that contains a specific cationized epoxy resin curing agent, thus showing high adhesion, good physical properties, and high resistance to water and chemical, liquefying at room temperature in no need of a large amount of cut agents, which increases the compatibility between the asphalten and the epoxy resin, and having good operability, because of good compatibility in the asphalten-epoxy resin system.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprises (A) an asphalten of 60W120 penetration rate, (B) a cationized epoxy resin curing agent that is made by cationizing with an acid a compound having imidazoline rings and one or more, per one molecule on the average, of amide groups in the molecule and (C) an epoxy compound bearing one or more 1,2-epoxy groups in the molecule or its aqueous emulsion and water wherein A/(B+C) is 2/8W9/1 where in case that component B is an emulsion, it is calculated as an epoxy compound. The above curing agent is produced by effecting the reaction between a polyamine with 3 or more primary and/or secondary amino groups, capable of forming imidazoline rings, and a fatty acid and cationizing the product with an organic or inorganic acid.
