Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve abrasion resistance and the strength at high temp. by forming an Ni type plating layer coupling metallurigcally to a precipitation hardening type copper alloy base material and an Ni type alloy melt spraying layer between both layers. CONSTITUTION:Any of Ni, Ni-Fe, Ni-Co or Ni-Mn is plated on a precipitation hardening type copper alloy base material. Next, an Ni type or Ni-Cr type alloy is melt-sprayed onto the plating layer which bonds to the underlying copper alloy base material by forming an alloy at the interface with the base material, thence it is quenched after it is heated to about 950 deg.C temp., whereby an oversaturated solid soln. is obtained. This solid solution is held at about 400 deg.C temp. for several hours, whereby the mold having moderate hardness and elongation is obtained.
