Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a DA converter which can simplify a register and a decoder circuit, by performing the switching of a connection switch for a capacitor of a capacitor array with a connecting procedure which is equal independently of the polarity of an input signal. CONSTITUTION:When an input signal is positive, after all the capacitor CA of a capacitor array is grounded for discharge, a part of the total capacitor CX according to a rate corresponding to the input signal is connected to the reference potential VR and the remaining CY is to ground, to obtain an output voltage V=CX, VR/(CX+ CY). When an input signal is negative, as shown in Figs. (e) and (f), the common electrode in series connection of the CX, CY corresponding to the input signal is grounded and after it is charged with the reference voltage VR, a switch SWG is disconnected, all the capacitors CA is grounded to obtain the output voltage V= -CX.VR/(CX+CY). Thus, independently of the polarity of the input signal, the reference voltage of the capacitor and the combination connected to ground can be made equal, allowing to simplify the control circuit.
