Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain superior cold workability as hot-rolled by hot rolling a steel contg. prescribed amts. of C, Mn, S, P. acid soluble Al under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A steel contg. 0.13W0.48% C, 0.3W1.8% Mn, ≤0.025% S, ≤0.025% P, and ≤0.1% acid soluble Al is produced. This steel is hot-rolled at temps. above the Ac3 transformation point, and is subjected to finish rolling of ≥40% total area of reduction in the temp. range of above the Ar3 transformation point and below (the Ar3 transformation point +200°C). Thence, after the finish rolling, it is slowly cooled at 0.05W1°C/sec cooling rates.
