Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent any temporary voltage drop which might be developed in the initial discharge under low temperature, by constituting a battery by use of a negative lithium electrode, a positive manganese dioxide electrode, and a specific organic electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A battery is constituted by use of a negative lithium electrode 1, a positive manganese-dioxide electrode 4, and an organic electrolyte prepared by dissolving less than 1mol/l of lithium perchlorate into a solvent mixture of 1,2-dimethoxyethane and propylene carbonate. 0.6-0.9mol of lithium perchlorate is preferred to be dissolved into 1l of the solvent mixture. The ratio of the former propylene carbonate to the former 1,2,-dimethoxyethane is 50-90vol%. The negative electrode 1 is prepared from a lithium sheet. The positive electrode 4 is prepared by cutting a sheet made of a mixture consisting of manganese dioxide, acetylene black and polytetrafluoroethylene. The separator 2 is prepared from a nonwoven polypropylene fabric. As a result, any temporary voltage drop which might be caused in the initial discharge under a low temperature of below -10 deg.C can be prevented.
