Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of an air dryer as well as raise its performance by using a heat regenerating type dryer in which air regenerated by heating is directly introduced into a cooling system and the air cooled is released to the open air at the time of cooling.
CONSTITUTION: Air, sucked in from a blower 1 and heated, is sent into a packed tower 7A where moisture adsorbed on adsorbent 8A is separated and partly released. Then, the remaining air containing moisture is cooled in primary and secondary coolers 16 and 19, drain is removed, and residual moisture in the air is further removed by the adsorbent 8B in the packed tower 7B to obtain product air. Also, in the cooling process, the compressed high-temperature air is cooled by the primary and secondary coolers 16 and 19 for dehumidification and further dehumidified by the adsorbent 8B in the packed tower 7B to obtain product air. And, part of the air is diverted to cool the packed tower 7A, and at the same time, remaining equilibrated adsorbed moisture is separated by utilizing the sensible heat of the adsorbent 8A and released to the open air.
