Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit automatic ultrasonic flaw detection without receiving the limination of the sizes of objects to be inspected and the limitation of flaw detection ranges by fixing probe side, rotating the object to be inspected and measuring the rotating position thereof. CONSTITUTION:An ojbect 3 to be inspected is connected to a driving device 9 by a revolving shaft 1 which is placed horizontal. A small water tank 16 mounted with a probe 2 is put in abutment on a flaw detecting surface 10. The rotating bearings measured with a rotating posiion detector 4 mounted to the shaft 1 are displayed in a position display device 5 and are fed to a recorder 6. Onthe other hand, the signal transmitted from a flaw detector 8 is fed as an ultrasonic signal via the probe 2 to the surface 10 and is permeated through the inside of the object 3. The defect reflection wave reflected from a defect 11 is received by the probe 2, and is fed to the recorder 6 via the detector 8. Thereby, the need for large water tanks is eliminated even with large objects to be examined, and flaw detection ranges are not limited.
