Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to recirculate a proper amount of exhaust gas always even if sticking of foreign matter to an exhaust-gas recirculating passage is caused, by detecting the flow rate of exhaust gas passed through an EGR valve directly, and feed- backing the detected flow rate of exhaust gas to a computor unit. CONSTITUTION:An EGR apparatus of this invention consists of an EGR valve 4, energizing and de-energizing solenoid valves 5, 6, and a computor unit 7. The computor unit 7 is furnished with signals D relating to various factors of operation such as the temperature of cooling water, intake vacuum, engine speed, etc. and also a flow-rate signal from a detecting means 8 for detecting the flow rate of work fluid, and controls the solenoids 5, 6 on the basis of these signals. The detecting means 8 is composes of a venturi 10 formed in an inlet valve passage 9 of the EGR valve 4, a diaphragm pressure detector 12 to which a pressure of minimum flow through the venturi 10 is applied via a condiut 11, and a potentiometer 14 fixed to a control shaft 13 of the detector 12 is a unitary manner, and produces from the potentiometer 14 a flow-rate signal corresponding to the pressure of minimum flow through the venturi 10.
