Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the generating efficiency by specifying the densities of ammonia, hydrogen chloride and dusts of detrimental substances contained in thermally decomposition flammable gas produce from solid waste and using them as fuel.
CONSTITUTION: After flammable solid waste is pulverized, the waste is supplied to a thermal decomposition furnace and is thermally decomposed at a temperature higher, for example, than 550°C, thereby gasifying most of the flammable substances. The gas thus produced is cleaned to remove detrimental gases, particularly hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and dusts contained in the gas, and is simultaneously cooled to less than approx. 40°C. To use the cleaned flammable gas as engine fuel, the ammonia density is reduced less than 50ppm, the hydrogen chloride is reduced less than 50ppm, and the dust density is reduced less than 1.0g/ Nm3, and this gas is stored in a gas holder as refined gas. Thereafter, the refined gas is compressed by a compressor, is then supplied to the engine, and a generator is driven by the operation of the engine.
