Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material having good joined part without forming any oxide by containing and sealing a getter material at the joining interface of plural metallic members, and performing diffusion joining in an inert gaseous atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: In cladding of metallic members 9, 10, a slight clearance 11 is formed at the sliding contact interface of both members 9, 10. An annular groove 12 is beforehand pierced on the outside circumferential surface near the end edge of the member 9 so as to face the clearance 11, and a getter material 13 of an alloy consisting essentially of Ti, Zr, Nb, Si, V, Al, etc. is packed therein, thence both members 9, 10 are combined. Further, both end face parts 14, 14' of the clearance 11 are sealed by welding or the like. If such material to be treated is elevated of temp. in a high pressure inert gaseous atmosphere, the gaseous components adsorbed at the joining interface of both members 9, 10 are released into the clearance 11, and are adsorbed to the material 13 together with the air remained in the clearance 11. Hence, the joining surfaces are maintained clean, and the formation of harmful compounds such as oxide at the joining interface does not occur.
