Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the variance in the copper layer composition on the surface side of a composite conductive wire rod by segmenting the inside of a crucible for dip forming for forming a copper alloy surface layer on a pure copper seed wire to a seed wire traveling chamber and an alloy element adding chamber and communicating these with communicating holes. CONSTITUTION:Melt 7 obtd. by melting a pure copper material in a melting furnace 1 is supplied through a supply port 10 into an alloy element adding chamber 4B in a crucible 4. An alloy element adding material 8 consisting of an alloy element such as tin or base alloy of this and copper is added into the chamber 4B from above. Then, the material 8 is mixed with the melt 7 in the chamber 4B, whereby molten copper alloy 2 is formed. The molten metal 2 having an approximately uniform composition flows into a seed wire traveling chamber 4A through communicating holes 12 at the bottom end of a barrier 11. In the chamber 4A, a pure copper seed wire 5 travels perpendicularly upward through a seed wire insertion hole 6, and therefore, at the time when the wire 5 is pulled from the molten metal 2, the molten metal 2 sticks on the surface of the wire 5, and cools to solidify.
