Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a titled nozzle having improved life of the nozzle and the stability of its size by forming part or the whole of the nozzle with a single crystal material of high hardness and high m.p. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 1 is formed of a single crystal material of high hardness and high m.p. such as ruby, sapphire, alumina or the like, and is in junction with a melting crucible 2. A prescribed alloy is put in the crucible 2, and the alloy is melted with an electric furnace 4 to provide molten metal 3. Thence, the gaseous argon pressure in the crucible 2 is increased abruptly, by which the molten metal 3 is ejected to the surface of a revolving metallic roll 5 through the nozzle 1, whereby it is quickly cooled and an amorphous alloy tape is obtained.
