Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the yield and efficiency of the rolling process, by preparing an intermediate material having dissimilarly shaped flanges at lateral both ends of a slab by using dissimilarly sized upper and lower box calibers, by turning this intermediate material, and by subjecting it to a rolling process through a rolling roll having dissimilarly shaped left and right shape forming calibers. CONSTITUTION:The said rolling rolls comprise upper and lower rolls 6, 7 whose outer surfaces are provided with dissimilarly sized upper and lower calibers consisting of centering calibers 8, 9, breadth widening calibers 10, 11 flange's outer surface and tip reforming calibers 12, 13 and forming calibers 14, 15. When a flat slab is rolled in the direction of breadth by these rolls, an intermediate material having dissimilarly shaped flanges at lateral both ends is formed by the centering calibers 8, 9, breadth widening calibers 10, 11, and flange's outer surface and tip reforming calibers 12, 13. This intermediate material is turned, and is rolled by forming calibers 14, 15 into a rough shaped steel billet for use of manufacturing a prescribed asymmetric steel shape.
