Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent any damage of a lamp caused by the thermal deformation of a microwace cavity resonator with its lamp in lighting condition, by forcing the tip of the lamp support to house and touch a part of the outer surface of the lamp and thus enclosing the lamp hole, where the support is inserted perpendicularly into the wall surface of the microwave cavity resonator. CONSTITUTION:A lamp 7 encloses aluminous metal inside in addition to starting rare gas and mercury and is formed in a sphere free of any supporting protrusion. It is supported by a lmap support body 9 and performs discharge emission being excited by the microwave electromagnetic field generated in its cavity resonator 1. The support body 9 is formed into a hollow cylinder made of quartz glass and a lamp support reaction 1b provided on its tip allows its diameter to be expanded so as to house a part of the outer surface of the lamp 7. Besides, the other end forms a contracted part 18 on the periphery of a section which is inserted in a lamp support insertion hole 10. When the contracted part 18 is inserted in the insertion hole 10. a spring stop ring 17 prevents the support 9 from being released from the insertion hole 10 and energizes the support toward the lamp by means of a retaining spring 11.
