Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure a reaction amount of a metal hydride and hydrogen, by detecting a change in a volume of a metal hydride produced with the hydrogen occlusion emission reaction of the metal hydride. CONSTITUTION:A volume of a filling metal hydride 6 expands and contacts with the hydrogen occlusion emission reaction, but a cylinder wall of a metal hydride filler 1 and a filter 3 are hardly influenced and are prevented from deformation. Solely a force, which compresses and deforms a thin sheet partition 5, is exerted, and a change in the volume of the metal hydride 6 can be observed as a displacement in a uniaxial direction in the metal hydride filler 1. A strain gauge 7 is used as a partion displacement detecting element located in contact with the partition 5. The strain gauge 7 indicates the displacement of the partition 5 as a change in a resistance of resistance wire, and converts it into an amount of a reaction between the metal hydride 6 and hydrogen in the metal hydride filler 1.
