Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the captioned apparatus thinner by a method wherein indoor and outdoor air exhaust ports or intake ports are provided in the surface of the apparatus adjacent to a blast unit. CONSTITUTION:The surface in which the indoor air exhaust port 4 and the outdoor exhaust port 5 of a heat exchanger 1 are formed is made to lie adjacent to the blast unit 18 so that the surfaces other than that surface adjacent to the blast nut can be brought into tight contact, and in substantially parallel relationships, with the inner surfaces of an outer casing 8 and almost no unnecessary space is provided around the heat exchanger 1 within the outer casing 18. Further, even when the apparatus is made thinner by enlarging the sectional area of passages 2 and 3 and reducing the number of layers in the heat exchanger 1, the diamensions of the apparatus i.e. the side-to-side-ratio, can be freely selected to eliminate unnecessary spaces within the outer casing 8 so that it is possible to reduce the length of the portion of the apparatus projecting from the wall surface and to reduce the sectional area of the wall surface to be occupied by the apparatus.
