Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a device for diverting water from a main water channel with taking advantage of the difference of water levels wherein diversion by a constant amount can be attained in spite of fluctuations of the water level in the water channel by constituting the snap tap device such that an introduction side valve body and an overflow weir are moved up and down in response to the vertical position of a float through a connecting member.
CONSTITUTION: Water which has passed through a main water channel 1 and a penstock 4 enters a still water tank 3 through a V-shaped opening 10 of a valve body 8 and then overflows an overflow weir 11 into a branch water channel 2. Floats 12, 12' are afloat in the still water tank 3 and are connected to the overflow weir 11 arranged to slide vertically relative to a base plate 13 and to the valve body 8 for adjusting the magnitude of the opening 10 through a lever 17. If the water level (x) in the main channel 1 as well as the water level (y) in the still water tank 3 rise, the floats 12, 12' move upwardly to narrow the opening 10 of the valve body 8 to control fluctuations of the water level. At the same time, the over- flow weir 11 moves upwardly by the distance equal to the magnitude of the change of the water level (y), thereby keeping the discharge rate O constant.
