Abstract
PURPOSE:To accrately measure urea concentration by acting urease-enzyme to the urea-contg. solution to be measured and allowing the resulting NH3 to contact and react with the solution contg. BrO<->, then detecting the change of BrO<-> concentration by polarography. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed amount of the solution to be measured is introduced from an inlet opening 1a of a sampling valve 1, and reacted with urease-enzyme 2 to produce NH3. After that, the reaction product is introduced to a flow cell 4 to transmit NH3 alone through a high polymer membrane 4c. On the other hand, an electrolytic solution contg. Br<-> is supplied from a container 8 for electrolytic solution to a reagent producing apparatus 7, and there BrO<-> is produced by electrolytic oxidation. Then it is introduced to the secondary chamber 4b to be reacted with said NH3. Consequently, the change of BrO<-> concentration is detected by polarography through electrodes 4d, 4e, 4f which are charged with onstant voltage from a potentiostat 5, and after prescribed signal treatment, the urea concentration in the solution to be measured in indicated in an indicater 6.
