Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect gas in discrimination of sorts, by a method wherein a gas sensing body having sensitivity of different temperature dependent property corresponding to sorts of gas is supplied with temperature distribution. CONSTITUTION:Ferric chloride and ferrous sulfate are dissolved in water and ammonium hydroxide is added thereto and coprecipitation is obtained. The coprecipitation is put into a reduced pressure vessel and dried in vacuum state and then heated into powders. Triethanol amine is added to the powders, and the obtained paste is applied onto an alumina substrate 8 and then baked into a sintering film 7. On rear surface of the alumina substrate 8 is installed a heater of zigzag form to heat the gas sensitive film 7 to about 400 deg.C at inner two elements and to about 350 deg.C at outer two elements. When, for example, the electrode 1 and the electrode 3 are shorted to constitute a bridge circuit and suitable voltage is impressed between the electrodes 2 and 5, the detecting element measures voltage between the electrode 4 and the electrode 1 (or 3). Since voltage variation to methane gas is small in comparison to other gas, methane can be detected in discrimination from other gas.
