Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine quality of a bottle with threaded mouth, by a method wherein the bottle is rotated in relative motion to a light source and a one-dimensional scanning camera, and a light shielding plate is arranged in path of light ray received by the one-dimensional scanning camera so as to prevent the light invasion from outside of a prescribed light path. CONSTITUTION:An incident ray 3 from a light source 2 is projected on a side wall 4 of threaded mouth of a bottle 1 and refracted there, and then transferred through the mouth inside hole into opposite side wall 6. The light ray 3 is refracted again by thread of the side wall 6 thereby the number of rays transferring in the horizontal direction from the side wall 6 towards the one-dimensional scanning camera 5 becomes four. If four rays penetrating the side wall 6 are observed from the camera 5, image is formed as shown by reference numerals 21-24. Scanning line of the camera 5 is arranged as shown by A and the bottle is rotating. Therefore image signal of four or three pulses is generated per scanning in the case of a bottle of good quality, and the number of pulses decreases in the case of inferior quality in comparison to good quality.
