Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled lightweight foam, having a feeling rich in flexibility and good touch, and suitable for an interior finish material in a building, heat insulating material etc., by incorporating 1,2-polybutadiene resin with aluminum hydroxide in a specific proportion, irradiating the resultant mixture with ultraviolet light, and heating the irradiated material mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by mixing (A) 100pts.wt. 1,2-polybutadiene resin (B) 100pts.wt. polymeric blend consisting of the component (A) as one component, e.g. polyethylene, with 150W350pts.wt., preferably 180W300pts.wt., aluminum hydroxide having a particle diameter of 0.5W20μ, and an adequate amount o a phtosensitizer, e.g. benzophenone, and a blowing agent, e.g. p,p'- oxybisbenzenesulfonyl hydrazide, is keaded, and rolled by a calender roll, etc. into a sheet. The resultant sheet is then irradiated with ultraviolet light of 240W400mμ wavelength in the case of the component (A) and 254W400mμ in the case of the component (B), foamed and expanded by heating at 200°C or below to give the aimed foam having uniform fine cells.
