Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled perform having excellent quality, by regulating the gas flow rate introduced into the exhaust gas according to the output of the pressure sensor attached to a reaction vessel, thereby controlling the pressure in the vessel and fluctuation of the flame. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of the pressure sensor 15 of the reaction vessel 6 is fed back through the control circuit 18 to the gas flow controlling means 25, and the flow rate of the gas flowing along the arrow 26 and 26' is controlled to regulate the pressure in the vessel 6. The exhaust gas 14 is mixed with air sucked from the biassing air inlet 28 along the direction of the arrow 29, and exhausted through the tank 19 by the exhausting device 17. The glass fine particles and chlorine gas in the gas are removed by the water 20 in the tank 19 to enable the stable operation of the device 17. The state of the flame 5 of the burner 1 can be detected in high responce by the sensor 15 placed near the flame, and the axial fluctuations of the outer diameter and the refractive index of the soot glass rod 2 can be suppressed.
