Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the time of processing in manufacturing a self-tightened double pipe, by heating an outer pipe with split heating jackets to thermally expand the outer pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Semicylindrical heating jackets 6 are provided on a right and a left stands 5, which are moved on a base 2 by motors 4. Pressurized oil heated by a boiler 13 is supplied to the heating jackets 6 to heat and expand an outer pipe 16. Icy water 21 is upplied into an inner pipe 15 to thermally contract it to insert the inner pipe into the couter pipe 16. While the outer pipe 16 is heated, pressure is applied to the interior of the inner pipe 15 to expand both the inner and the outer pipes 15, 16. The icy water is then drained out of the inner pipe 15. The stands 5 are displaced to separate the heating jackets 6 from each other rightward and leftward to spontaneously heat the inner-pipe 15 and spontaneously cool the outer pipe 16.
