Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve sliding property of fitting portions between a sleeve and a roll shaft while eliminating air gaps, and to increase heat conductivity, by a method wherein metal foil, whose heat conductivity is higher than that of the fitting portions, is put between the fitting protions.
CONSTITUTION: A sleeve 1 is uniformly heated at a fixed temperature, aluminum foil or copper foil 5 is wound on a roll shaft 2 in a onefold or multiple shape under room temperature condition, and the sleeve 1 heated is inserted into the shaft 2 to which the foil 5 is wound, cooled and brought to a shrinkage-fit condition. In this case, a shrinkage-fit allowance is taken in value more than conventional methods more or less. According to such constitution, air, having an inferior heat condcutivity is not present between the sleeve and the roll shaft because the foil 5 buries air gaps due to unevenness, and heat is transmitted between the sleeve 1 and the shaft 2 by a metal, having an excellent heat conductivity thus diminishing temperature difference between both, then reducing expansion and contraction of the sleeve to the shaft 2. Thus, slide of the fitting portions is inproved the air gaps are removed and heat conductivity is increased.
