Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate a heating and cooling and prevent a thermal stress and corrosion crack in a shaft by a method wherein a thermal medium is enclosed in a center hole of a hollow rotary shaft for a high pressure, and a medium pressure rotor etc. of a steam turbine, thereby the thermal medium is either heated or cooled through a heat exchanger unit.
CONSTITUTION: Heated steam is flowed into a flow-in evaporator chamber 19 through a control valve 24 and further flowed into the heating chamber 13 through a flow-in hole 16 so as to heat a heating part 25 in the heat pipe 10, to operate the heat pipe 10, heat the base member 9 and the press fitted member 8, and further heat from the interior surface at the central hole 5 in the shaft 1 to the outside surface of the shaft. Thereby, it is possible to heat the shaft in advance to a desired temperature when the turbine is to be pre-heated, resulting in that a difference in between the flow-in steam and a temperature the rotor may be decreased so as to reduce a thermal stress.
