Abstract
PURPOSE: To mold a spirally wound flexible hose efficiently, continuously and stably by a method wherein an unvulcanized rubber hose produced by winding a belt-formed rubber having a reinforcing core of a hard synthetic resin embedded therein is coated with an inorganic compound during when the hose is transferred by rotating, followed by irradiating with infrared rays.
CONSTITUTION: A belt-shaped body 3 consisting of the reinforcing core 1 of a hard synthetic resin and the unvulcanized rubber 2 is extruded as a hose forming blank material by an extruder 4. The unvulcanized hose is continuously produced by spirally winding the belt-shaped body 3 around a group of rollers 7 of a hose molding machine 6 which are arranged so as to form an outside peripheral surface substantially the same as the inside peripheral surface of the flexible hose 5 to be molded and are rotated in the same direction by driving a motor 8. The thus prepared unvulcanized hose is then transferred with rotating by a rotation transfer device 13 adapted to the direction of the spiral of the hose. During the transfer with rotating, an aqueous dispersion of an inert inorganic compound is coated on the unvulcanized rubber surface of the hose by a coating device 12. Then, the hose is vulcanized by heating by the infrared rays which are irradiated from a group of heaters 14 and have wavelengths of 2W60μ.
