Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a power steering device, by providing the device with an orifice and decreasing the cross-sectional area of the orifice depending on the rise in the rotational frequency of a pump.
CONSTITUTION: A flow control spool valve 17, which can adjust the degree of opening of a communication passage between a supply passage 11 and a by-pass 15 and shut off the communication passage, is slidably fitted in a valve housing hole 11. A control spool 30 is fitted in a union 12. A restrictor 24 provided with orifices 25, 26 is fitted near an outlet port 23. When the flow rate of discharge of a pump to the supply passage 14 is increased due to the rise in the rotational frequency of the pump, the pressure of fluid in the passage 14 goes up to push the control spool 30 to decrease the cross-sectional area of the orifice 25. According to this constitution, the flow rate diminished with the increase in the rotational frequency of the pump is prevented from returning due to the rise in the load pressure of a power steering device. As a result, the performance of the device is improved.
