Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain abrasion resistant double rolls of improved melt-sticking of inside and outside layers for mills, etc. by limiting the inside surface temps. of Ni- hard type cast iron or high chromium type cast iron of the outside layer and the wall thickness of the cast steel of the inside layer in double centrifugal casting. CONSTITUTION:An outer layer is first cast by centrifugal cast method by using Ni-hard type cast iron or high chromium type cast iron. When the inside ring surface temp. of the outside layer attains 700-900 deg.C after solidification, an inside layer is cast by using ordinary cast iron at wall thickness of 1/4-3/4 the wall thickness of the outside layer material. According to this method, the double centrifugal cast rolls free from the high temp. cracking of the surface of the outside layer material and lack of fusion of both inside and outside layers are obtained. Since such rolls are superior in abrasion resistance, the frequency of replacing rolls is reduced if they are used for grinding mills for ore, coal, cement, etc.
