Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain double rolls of superior abrasion resistant for mills, etc. without the occurrence of roll cracking by centrifugally casting an inside ring material made of cast steel, and casting cast iron of high hardness on the surface of the inside ring material in the state of limiting its outside surface temp. CONSTITUTION:Ordinary cast steel is poured as an inside layer material for an inside ring in a centrifugal casting metal mold, and is solidified by water cooling. The solidified inside ring of the cast steel is installed in the metal mold for the outside layer and when the outside circumferential surface temp. arrives at 950-700 deg.C, the outside layer material of high hardness such as Ni-hard type cast iron or high chromium type dast iron is melt stuck on the surfce of the inside ring, whereby double rolls are cast. According to this method, the melt sticking of the inside and outside layers is good, and the double rolls free from the occurrence of cracking are obtained at a low cost. Since such rolls are highly resistant to abrasion, they reduce the frequency of replacing rolls when used as grinding mills for ore, coal, cement, etc.
