Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a compact clutch with less power consumption by converting the engine rotation to the extending movement of an operation rod through a pair of rotating shaft connected or disconnected by a connecting/disconnecting mechanism and through a conversion mechanism, said operating rod disconnecting the clutch and a spring force connecting the clutch.
CONSTITUTION: When disconnecting a connected clutch 2 a shift knob switch (not illustrated) energizes a solenoid 24 to connect the first and second shafts 15 and 17 via a connecting/disconnecting mechanism 18, the rotation of the second shaft 17 extending an operating rod 21 through a thread 27 of a conversion mechanism 20 and moving a release bearing 11 via a release lever 29 and a fork 12 to disconnect the clutch 2 and to store a force in a spring 30. A brake 19 operates by the action of a limit switch 31 to complete the operation. To connect the clutch the operating rod 21 retracts by the force of the spring 30 and a diaphragm spring 9 returning the bearing 11 to its original position for the connection.
