Abstract
PURPOSE: To recycle waste chrominum plating solns. as a plating soln. by adding a caustic alkali soln. to the waste chromium plating soln. in the 1st stage to settle and remove Cr, Fe ions, electrolyzing the filtrate thereof in the 2nd stage and causing the aq. alkali chromate soln. obtained in the cathode chamber to react with the waste plating soln. in the 3rd stage.
CONSTITUTION: A caustic alkali soln. is added to a waste chromium plating soln. in the 1st stage to turn chromic acid ions to alkali dichromate, whereby Cr, Fe ions are settled and filtered out as chromium hydroxide and ferric hydroxide. In the 2nd stage, the filtrate is electrolyzed until the soln. attains about 10pH in an electrolytic cell having a diaphragm plate, whereby a chromic acid of high purity is obtained in the anode chamber and an alkali chromate soln. in the cathode chamber. In the 3rd stage, said alkali chromate soln. is caused to react with the waste plating soln. to again convert it to an alkali dichromate soln., whereby the impure metals in the waste soln. are settled and removed in the same manner as in the 1st stage and the filtrate is used as a regenerated plating soln.
