Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a porous plug attached to a ladle or the like from being damaged by molten metal and to elongate the usage life by mounting refractory granules on the surface of the plug and charging molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: Gaseous Ar, N2 or the like is blown into molten steel in a container holing molten metal such as a ladle or a tundish to carry out desulfurization, deoxidation, dephosphorization, desiliconization and separation of nonmetallic inclusions. At this time, a porous plug for blowing said gas into molten steel is damaged and requires frequent exchanges. In order to reduce the exchanges, granules obtd. by mixing 100pts.wt. of ≥1 kinds of refractory such as magnesia, spinel, alumina or mullite with 3W7pts.wt. solid pitch and granulating the mixture to 2W 0.2mm size are mounted on the surface of the porous plug of a container after discharging molten steel, and molten steel is charged to prevent the damage of the plug.
