Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a high tensile low yield point steel strip having composite structure continuously by setting the diameters of the hearth rolls in the cooling zone of a heat treatment device for steel strips at specific sizes and controlling the cooling rate of the steel strip adequately. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip is passed continuously through the inside of a heating zone 5, a soaking zone 6, a primary cooling zone 7, and a secondary cooling zone, whereby it is heat-treated. In the cooling zone 5, it is heated for <=3min in a temp. region of 723-900 deg.C where alpha phase and gamma phase coexist, or for <=10min in gamma phase region of 900-1,000 deg.C. Next, it is held for 300sec-500min at 723-900 deg.C or 1-10min at 900-1,000 deg.C in the soaking zone 6. In the primary cooling zone 7, the steel strip is colled at 1-300 deg.C/sec cooling rates down to 200-300 deg.C, and in the secondary cooling zone 8, it is cooled down to below 200 deg.C. Here, the diameters of upper, lower hearth rolls 17, 18, 17', 18' of the cooling zones are set at the sizes expressed by the equation (I), and the diameters of the plied rolls of ancillary equipment are regulated at the sizes expressed by the equation (II).
