Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively connect the metallic lead frame in a semiconductor device by forming a thin aluminum film on one side of the lead frame and a metallic film except aluminum on the other side, and attaching with glass a metallic plate provided with an element fixing region attached with the metallic film with a package body. CONSTITUTION:An element fixing region 8 is formed on the surface of a metallic plate 14 plated with metal 13, and the plate 14 is secured with glass 15 to the package body. A thin aluminum film is formed on one side surface of a lead frame 3, and a metallic film 12 except the aluminum is covered to prevent the oxidation on the other side surface, and the soldering work of the semiconductor 5 and the terminal 7 to the region 8 can be readily and effectively performed. According to this configuration the problems in the bonding of the element to the fixing region and the connection of the fixing region to the lead frame can be eliminated, thereby facilitating an automation.
